We met Christina and Simon from Worthing Power Bank at our recent monthly meeting. They spoke about the wonderful work they do helping tackle Energy Poverty in Worthing, a worrying reality that many are facing more and more in this Cost of Living Crisis.
The non-profit organisation offers top ups on prepayment metres for anyone struggling to pay their bills, which they are able to do through kind donations. They are hoping to increase the amount of donations and expand the number of people they are able to help!
We discussed important topics such as the cause and consequences of Energy Poverty and the surge in those experiencing its effects.
These conditions result in poor physical and mental health in the short and long term, as well as wider forms of social exclusion. These issues can only be solved by a party that seriously considers lowering energy prices, increasing household incomes, and creating more energy efficient homes.
