Fighting against Sewage in our Seas

Last summer there were alerts for days on end warning people not to go in the sea in Worthing because of dangerous sewage overflows. In 2022, Southern Water pumped 1,285 hours of harmful sewage into bathing water, the third worst water company performance. Former Goring Green candidate Sonya Mallin says: “Southern Water’s complete disregard for people’s health is shocking. As a private corporation, their priority is clearly to protect shareholders and not people. The Worthing Greens will not let this stand.” Local Green campaigner Claire Hunt says: “Water companies make millions in profits and seem happy to pay to pollute. I will continue to speak up about this at every opportunity”.
